The four splendidly prepared wooden tables looked magnificent as the chosen thirty one souls took their places in the regal Bedford Arms Restaurant.
They had come to celebrate the nine years since former prostate sufferers David, Jim, Phil, Trevor, Derek and Bob vowed to alert all mid aged men to monitor their prostates by forming the Friends of Prostate Sufferers (FOPS).
Soon everyone was deep in conversation with their neighbours and then Grace was said and the scrumptious watercress soup was served. Then there was delicious Venison or Chicken Supreme and we finished our luncheon with a uniquely tasting Apple Crumble with vanilla ice cream.
Then came the Raffle organised by Kate, when Frances, with both arms raised, paraded a bottle of Wine. The wines we drank with our meal were first class and plentiful and I can’t remember much more except people walking round chatting and applauding Jim and Julian for playing their favourite songs to us, some of which like the Beatles ‘She was just 17’ we all Sangalong…
Twas a wonderful Luncheon that everyone enjoyed so watch this space for the next Celebration Lunch for Ten.
