Prostate Peddlers Open Day event photographThe first Prostate Peddlers Open Day was a great success. There were both medics and prostate cancer patients who turned up to learn more and ride through the Chilterns and Ashridge forest. Below is a video of the day's events, which include interviews with some of those who attended... We look forward to supporting and promoting Prostate Peddlers in the future. To learn how Prostate Peddlers use cycling to support and strengthen riders, help them to cope with the disease and enjoy life pleas[...]

A tribute for Jim Spence

22nd February 2019
A tribute for Jim Spence photographFriday 22nd February will stay long in the memories of the three hundred who packed St Aidan's Church to pay their respects to Jim Spence, whom they all appreciated so much for his wonderful caring ways, his outstanding service to the FOPS cause as a founder member and Deputy Chairman, never to forget his guitar playing and performance of his unique songs which thrilled us all. But he was first and foremost a true family man devoting his time to his lovely wife Shirley and to Karen and Stuart's [...]

We are going to talk about his interesting story and his treatment so far, and how this is impacting on his life and family. The FOPS can help in bringing people like Mark together and giving them mutual support and encouragement. Mark, this starts as a BRCA2 story, can you tell us a little bit about wha[...]

On a lighter note our November Celebration Lunch filled the Bedford Arms Restaurant with happy chatting smiling faces who enjo[...]

The FOPS Celebration Lunch

20th December 2017
The FOPS Celebration Lunch photographThe four splendidly prepared wooden tables looked magnificent as the chosen thirty one souls took their places in the regal Bedford Arms Restaurant. They had come to celebrate the nine years since former prostate sufferers David, Jim, Phil, Trevor, Derek and Bob vowed to alert all mid aged men to monitor their prostates by forming the Friends of Prostate Sufferers (FOPS). Soon everyone was deep in conversation with their neighbours and then Grace was said and the scrumptious watercress soup was[...]

The May 31st Support Group Meeting photographOur meeting on May 31st was one of our best to date. To have men and their partners tell us they "enjoyed" the evening is indeed gratifying, as a "Prostate Cancer Support Group Meeting" and "enjoy" are not exactly words you would think to link together. The thirteen new attendees were very much made to feel welcome. Alvan Pope, our Consultant Urologist, was his usual brilliant self, and certainly had a very busy evening dealing with so many questions, but somehow managed to address each new pers[...]

Tackle AGM June 2017 photographLast Tuesday the 13th June I (Bob Arthy) was privileged to attend with nearly a hundred others the AGM of Tackle which now represents 87 PSA Support Groups throughout the UK. The organisation of the AGM was superb, for instance we all received an Agenda which came with a detailed researched background to each item on the Agenda. Stand up Roger Wotton as we all salute your drive and enthusiasm not to mention your Chairmanship that is truly enervating this Nationwide Association of Prostate Cancer[...]
